El sábado por la mañana un terremoto de 7.9 grados en la escala de Richter azotó Katamandú en Nepal,  es el más potente que ha ocurrido en los últimos 81 años en el empobrecido país asiático. Como se informó ayer, incluso el movimiento telúrico pudo sentirse en India, China y Bangladesh, lugares donde también se reportan daños y víctimas.

Hasta el momento el número de muertos estimado es de 3 mil, sin embargo esta cifra continuará subiendo, conforme sigan los trabajos de limpieza.

El terremoto llegó hasta el Monte Everest ocasionando una avalancha que afectó a todos los alpinistas que se encontraban en la cima de la montaña, donde murieron 17 personas y se calcula que hay 200 desaparecidos más. Hoy llegó la primera ola de sobrevivientes a Katmandú y ente ellos se encontraba el fotógrafo Roberto Schmidt que estaba en el campamento base del Everest, donde reveló algunas de las imágenes que tomó después del terremoto.
